I've found it difficult to succinctly describe Wake Up!, so I dedicate this page to the long-winded version of my vision of this show.

My goal is to introduce people to ideas or concepts they've not previously been exposed to. I want you to use your imagination and creativity and really engage with the world; I want to offer suggestions of how you might improve your life and hopefully, somehow, increase your happiness. We don't seem to question enough things in this Western civilization, and we should be. Power in numbers! You shouldn't have to spend umpteen hours sitting in front of a glowing screen, isolated from those around you. We should be smiling at each other on the streets, engaging in random conversations. Why not?
This will be updated again when I can better phrase the premise of this show

I'm looking for:
  • Suggestions for show topics or someone to interview
  • Ideas for what is "taboo" in our society--words, actions, situations, etc. See potential show topics.
  • Descriptive stories. For the show that'll be discussing suicide, I'd really like to have a retelling of an attempted suicide (anonymously if preferred).
  • Song requests

I'm always looking for feedback, so please phone in anytime between 7-9 on Fridays when I'm in the studio: 519 837 CFRU (2378). It's easier for me to answer the phone when I'm not speaking, though, so if you could phone while a song or something prerecorded is playing that'd be great! Alternatively, you can email me at radio[AT]nothingisfinal[DOT]com. Even responses such as, "you're totally wrong about this, I'm going to argue with you" are welcome. If you'd like, we could discuss something on-air via phone, so if you want to have a live debate or phone in to inform listeners of your own suggestions about something, please let me know.

    Potential future show topics/content include(s):
  • Responses to random survey questions (conducted when I'm out and about, asking the person next to me on the bus, the person behind me in the line at the grocery store, etc.) such as "have you ever wanted to run away?" or "why do you smoke?" or something.
  • Possible mini-series of taboo topics, such as suicide. I've had a request to talk about the word "cunt," as well. Need more topics, though.
  • conversing with a like-minded friend about the environment, life, etc., then a conversation between two people that have the opposite viewpoint, then a conversation between the 4 of us.
  • discussions of the various religions (potential mini-series)
  • unschooling/deschooling
  • anarchism
  • alternatives to using TV to destress
  • alternatives to technology (e.g. fridges)
  • hitchhiking
  • edible plants in the Guelph area
  • childfree (as opposed to childless), sterilization
  • primitive living skills
  • radio plays
